RUSH HOUR

JONTHAN LOUIS DUCKWORTH

Joy is dangerous sometimes.

There are balmy evenings

of undiluted quiescence

when my ears can collect

the sibilance of power lines

from two streets over,

& there’s a certain risk I’ll

peel off my skin just

for one fewer barrier

between me & this world.
