the displacement of the spectrum to shorter wavelengths in the light coming from distant celestial objects moving toward the observer.

Ben Del Vecchio is a Media Studies/Critical Film Major at Claremont McKenna College, east of Los Angeles. He ran a weekly Film/TV column for Phillips Academy's The Phillipian, and served as Culture Editor for their Backtracks Magazine. As a child, instead of restricting TV time, his parents joined him—probably too much.

He loves to spin vinyl, play piano, watch classic cinema, pray to Buffy, and defend Nicolas Cage—all from the comfort of his bed. He probably belongs sometime between 1940 and 1980.
